Early Bainsford
Bainsford was developed in the 18th century on the Mungal estate and the Abbotshaugh estate.
The name Bainsford is most probably derived from the ford on the Pest burn which lay north of the Forth and Clyde canal.
From here the road climbed north to the cross roads, the road to the west climbed up through the Mungal Estate and down to Camelon, the road to the North went down through Mungal estate crossing the river Carron at Stenhouse ford ,the road to the east went doon Davies loan through Abbotshaugh to the ports on ther river Carron.
